BITSAT 2009 begins

Today the 9 of May 2009 BITSAT entrance for admission into BITS Pilani begins.
The team of BITSexam wishes all the students best of luck for BITSAT

Those who have given BITSAT please post your comments about BITSAT here - Click Here

Also compare it with other exams like AIEEE and give your feedback...It will be a good tool to judge the level of actual BITSAT and the expected cutoffs

Discussions till now:

  • Purvi said : "Hey guys i gave d xam on d 9th...n scored 264...m disappointed....bt d level of the paper is vry easy as compared 2 aieee...accordin 2 me phy n maths were completely doable n attemptable....an average student can easily score in phy...bt i faced problems in chem basically...!! "
  • I say : " Study chemistry properly...I have always said that...and will always say that :)"...And do check this link - How to crack BITSAT Chemistry - Do Click Here
  • Anonymous 1 said : "This blog rocks isnt it? i love it it helps me a lot"
  • I say : It sure does :)
  • shireesh said : "hey arvind where did you get placed from BITS???"
  • I say : "Wrong place for posting the question" ...anyways I am a dualite...will be placed in 5-2...my intern will start from July 4 in some XYZ company...waitig for my PS-2 results :D
  • Anonymous said : sir don't you think luck factor does play a role in bitsat?
  • I say : It sure does...dont call it luck though...call it your destiny....And always be the one to make your destiny not that one waiting for it...So in short complete the syllabus :)
  • Abhinav said : Scored 327. as far as the level of paper is concerned it was surely easier than AIEEE. Feel pity for the guy who said that chem was 10 times tougher than EEE's chem. everything was pretty easy. questions were short ant to the point nothing very confusing. The conceptual part in physics was missing while chem didn't contain the practical part at all (salt analysis and all that). Maths was ok. Mainly focussed on Calculus. The only part which i found slightly tough was English just because it took time to read those long passages and then keep the main points in mind while answering. committing 25 mistakes did cost me a bit. guys just keep the the time factor in mind and u'll have fun.
  • I say : Luck fellow...not all people get paper from the topics you prepare.... I have always said that BITSAT is easier than AIEEE except for the extra topics and more of memory based questions in Chemistry...rest questions are as I have always told - "Straight forward i.e. Basic Model Problems /Basic Formulae "
  • Siddharth via Email :
I gave the BITSAT on 12th may 12:30 to 3:30.
    I have scored 422 marks.
I'll like to thank you for the valuable guidance on your site bitsexam.
Actually little material is available, a drawback.
But can be used to one's advantage. Indeed the key is to do the syllabus properly.
Because it is not necessary that you get the equal no. of questions from each topic.
In my paper, there were few from organic but many from Stereochem.
I found that there were many questions from the old NCERT Chemistry(2006 and before),especially the last few chapters.
Another thing is that if there are even upto 10 questions left out of 150 with 20-25 minutes left, one can take calculated risks and go for the extra questions. 15 minutes is quite enough to do the extra questions.
I found that the extra questions were of easy to medium level. In my opinion if time permits one should attempt these as these can help increase the score.
The sample test(full length) on goiit.com is very good and gives useful practise as compared to other individual subjects tests(these are better to get an idea or for practise, but a full length one allows time management skills, too) like those provide by you or tcyonline. A full length test helps increase the confidence and preparation level manifold.
  • I say : Congrats bro.....Yup I will say it as loud as possible.....try to complete your syllabus and revise basic formulas/model problems :)
  • Neha via email :
My BITSAT went ok, scored 345 (hoping for Computer Science in Goa...)
Physics and Chemistry were around AIEEE level... Maths was similarly manageable, much easier than this year's AIEEE. My BITSAT English section was unfortunately about the same level as SAT Critical Reading.
  • Ashar said : Bitsat was comparatively easier than AIEEE, as was expected.

But I found some questions of Chemistry rather absurd, memory based questions from the unexpected corners of the book. Well, this is inevitable. Not time consuming though (1 min/ques).

Physics was mostly conceptual. 5-6 numericals. Topics of XIth were there in almost equal proportion. One can attempt 90% questions if prepared well for JEE.

Logical Reasoning was quite easy. I found a few questions of English slightly difficult & time-consuming, especially the passage based questions (I had 4-5 of them) and odd-one out (in which I could understand only two options).

Maths will take time, so better take aside 70-80 min. for this section, and attempt at last. There were a few questions meant to be answered by checking options (could save a lot of time, but requires presence of mind there). Many questions are exactly from AIEEE or JEE previous papers. And don't forget trigonometry, there were about 5-6 questions from it in my paper (some couln't be answered by satisfying options). Quite a few questions from co-ordinate will test the speed of candidate. So, practice is must. Taking maths exam in front of PC is different, and does consume more time.

    My Bitsat score: 346
    Expected scores of -
    JEE: 211
    AIEEE: 291

In VIT, I secured 193 rank.
  • I say : I would always advice any guy/gal to take Physics at the end...If you have good practice and are good with elimination techniques then you can complete maths in 50-60 mins which is good considering you have 180 min :)

Will add whatever relevant comments people post here

    ReplyDelete
  24. venky bits is very good campus life is more secured there i like 2 get good score........
    ReplyDelete
  25. @Nikhil: Mostly you should

@Sandy : please check the post on 2008 cutoffs

@Seshu : Mostly the cutoffs will remain the same...i am expecting the cutoffs to increase for Hyd campus...Anyways you should get good engineering in other campuses and dual/Chemical/Civil in Pilani

@shireesh : Arrihant tests are good...but they are easy...try BITSAT Race and Page...your actual tests will be in between these two extremes

    @Anonymous : Whose marks???

@Anonymous 2 : Toughness level less than AIEEE....but one cannot sort out a single important topic as it the questions are from a huge question bank of questions taken randomly

    @Anonymous : Hack da system.....which one???

@Apurva : A consistent score of 350+....while giving mock tests make it a point that you attempt all 162 questions..this was you can judge your strategy whether to attempt the extra 12 questions in BITSAT

@venky : Ya...sadly today is my last Sunday in BITS :(((((( ....I am terribly sad about leaving this campus :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. hey arvind where did you get placed from BITS???
    ReplyDelete
  36. hello guys was chem that tough i mean was it tougher than aieee
    ReplyDelete
  37. @Anonymous who talked about IIT and VIT : VITEE sucks...as for JEE I am sure your friend will make it into the top 100...simple reason he got a tough paper and he stopped studying for BITSAT after getting a good score in JEE

Some examples : Myself - JEE mains not qualified BITSAT 309

My friend in IIT Chennai (hussain kath)- JEE 700 BITSAT 299 :) So if you dont study you wont get marks

If you are serious you can crack the exam
    ReplyDelete
  38. Is it true that chemistry part of BITSAT has questions similar to our regular CBSE Board exams or school exams, which ask questions from text line by line?

Also I need help on whether to study biological chemistry(which is not there in NCERT chemistry book), because I didn't took Biology in 11th.

  39. hi guyz can u tell me abt bits goa..???n arvind bro can u tell me d package u r likely to get...m nitin...n ya m getting nearly 300 in mtg practice tests z dat gud enough..to get 350+
    ReplyDelete
  40. hmm.. sir don't you think luck factor does play a role in bitsat? a friend of mine expecting under 500 in jee 2009,took bitsat yesterday, got just 291. he said he got many ques frm topics he didn't know well. Another one, who isn't sure of clearing jee, got 319 in bitsat!
    ReplyDelete

  42. sir please reply to me today my frs have written bits they said it was totally tuff and there were verry new concepts they gt nly 150 mrks will d tuffness increase day by day sir?????

  43. hey could somebody post few ques.
    how exactly was the level
and english section was it doable???
    ReplyDelete
  44. @Anonymous 1: Not line by line...but the questions are more of memory based than method based

@Anonymous 2: Goa has developed into a great campus....I will post about different campuses later on..And for my package I cant tell yet...I will post it when I get placed :)...no dude you need to get more to cross 350...MTG tests are not that tough...concentrate on your mistakes...you will surely succeed

@Anonymous 3: I think I clearly wrote in my blog - Complete your syllabus...and then talk about the level of the question paper...if you dont study a topic properly how can you judge the level of the question paper???
    ReplyDelete
  45. @Saideep : i dont think BITSAT is that tough...I am sure they have not prepared well for the exam
And do read the post on myths about BITSAT(do search for it) before asking repertitive questions about BITSAT toughness

@Anoymous : No I am not going to accept any questions about BITSAT in our blog....I have some ethics.....you can discuss such things on any other forum/blog
As for level I am sure you can judge it from others comments
    ReplyDelete

  47. can u please tell me what are measures of skewness ,are they important for bitsat and in which book are they present?
I asked this on another site 2 u as well but u seemed to have missed it.
I dont know anything about the measures of skewness .Should i be worried?I am getting around 340 in the page tests but i should be getting more coz there are mistakes in their solutions.Does this mean i am well prepared.
Also if have studied well for iit-jee ,aieee and then for bitsat (started after aieee) am i at a disadvantage? ~ Swapnil
    ReplyDelete
  48. My test is on 22nd this month.I have a few more chapters to finish in physics.Should I spend time learning them or solve many question papers so that I would grab those concepts from them.
The topics I haven't revised are properties of matter, heat and thermodynamics and electronics
    ReplyDelete
  49. @worried : Nope...cutoff wont be that low

@Swapnil : No specific topic questions pleas...i am not doin my 12 rite now and dont have books to study and comment

And how can you be at a disadvantage when you have prepared well for JEE and AIEEE...your preparation for BITSAT starts on the day you started preparing for any other exams

Now what matters is the revision and completion of extra topics...If you can do that you will surely end up with a good score

340 in Page is good..keep working you will improve

@Anonymous : Bro you cannot leave such important topics in Physics..try to complete atleast the basic things...And do your revision along with learning these topics...A half hearted attempt will never help the cause
    ReplyDelete
  50. i want msc biologocal in hyd campus can i get it for 256...please tell me........
    ReplyDelete
  51. The chemistry part was pretty tough and ten times tougher than Aieee's chemistry(just to give an idea). Physics was the easiest of the three subjects. English and Logical reasoning was also easy.
    ReplyDelete
  52. Hey,
Madhu here... Am riting bitsat on 25th...I have just begun preps around a week ago..am quite decent in chemistry....Maths is quite tough for me...do u suggest i try n master chem or work more on math!??
    ReplyDelete
  53. I am getting 256, what can i expect? Dual in goa/ hyd? Do you think the cutoffs will marginally drop? The paper was tougher compared to last year...
    ReplyDelete
  54. @madhu : Try to revise all the basic model problems/formulae in Maths....Maths is easier to score than Chemistry in BITSAT

So spend time with Maths...as for chemistry try to complete the extra topics...and concentrate on revising the topics

    ReplyDelete
  72. @amit : I have written an article whether to attempt the extra 12 questions or not...do search for it..And for level of Chemistry it is tough...not sure how tough it actually is unless many people start commenting

    @Anonymous 1 : please check other posts before commenting....Only your 2yr + practicals

@Anonymous 2: Thanks you....but there is another person who helps me 24*7 in running this blog - santosh lakshman a.k.a Lucky Murari.....We hope to reach as many BITS aspirants as possible and we need your help...Spread the word...tell to your friends :)

@abhinav : Dont know....but similar model problem will come

@Anonymous 3: There is no point searching for such questions....the probability of you and your friend getting the same exact question is very less....better ask your friends the topics in which they got the problems
    ReplyDelete
  73. @abhinav : Congrats...you can make it into Mech @ pilani or Compsci @ othe campuses ( if you dont get into an IIT obviously)

But I will differ with some of your statements...You are lucky enough to get questions from topics you know :)
Statistics have shown ( from my 4 years of experience) that many people do not get questions from the topics they study...and experimental chemistry questions were frequently asked till last year

English is lenghty but easy to score...and anyways congrats again

@Anonymous 4: In a book shop close to your house

@Anonymous 5 : Only 2 year MPC marks and please check other topics before commenting

    @dkt : 360+ or atleast 350+

    @bikram : Check abhinavs comments

@Ravish : Mite get duals in Goa and Hyd ( Bio or if lucky chemistry)...how was your BITSAT...do comment on the level of paper and other things :)

  77. HI every one
First of all I wud like to introduce myself as a bitsian 3rdyearite
now listen according to our expectations this time cutoff will reach around 250 (as of now students r doin) it may vary also according to some more week's students performance
Somebody askd at 289 score .. Then I am pretty sure u can come to bits pilani ,pilani campus itself and if luck permits may also persue B.E corses rather than doin MSc. or MSctech.
in goa and hyd campus for sure u can get till chemical branches
let keep ur hope to get cutoff as low as possible..
have good and anxiety free holidays from now on
    good luck all

    Hello,
1>I have gone through all the topics as suggested by u but i am confident only in 3/4th of the syllabus, so should i prepare with the rest of the portion or just concentrate on solving mock papers. i am currently using the arihant text book to read through the topics and also solving the mock papers. btw i am writing on 16th.
2> everyone's been telling that chemistry is tough... is it conceptual based or problem solving or a practical approach (weak point)?
3>lastly what would be the required score to get a mech seat or cen seat
    thanks
    ReplyDelete
  83. everyone says chemistry is tough?
Is it the conceptual part of organic or numerical problems from physical or memory based questions from inorganic? If it is the third, then I am done!
Do they follow the same pattern a year?I mean if chemistry is tough it is the same till the end of the exam schedule?
I would also like to know if questions are asked which have been asked in other entrance examinations. Is Arihant a good book for preparation?
    ReplyDelete
  84. @karthavya : Four days is less time...I insist you to revise the basic formulas and practice papers instead of studying new topics...hope for the best

@Varun : Very strict on the cutoffs???? No the cutoffs are not fixed....they change every year based on the number of applicants for that particular branch
Anyways you will get dual degrees and other engineering...do check out my post on dual degrees..

@Bhargav : Solve mock papers....16 is very close....and revise the basic stuff....Chemistry is conceptual based mostly....For Mech seat above 330 is a safe score for Pilani campus...for other campuses check the post on cutoffs

  88. sir i would like to know how much i need to score in the exam to get a good branch like metalurgy(if its there) or a dual degree in pilani or hyderabad....my exam is on 19 may ..any last tips
    ReplyDelete
  89. @Anonymous : There is no metallurgy in BITS ( and I dint know that metallurgy was a good branch)
And for dual degree you need to score above 270...300+ is a safe score

Check my post on last moment tips for BITSAT :)

  106. HOW TO do rough work in bitsat
how many rough sheets will they provide
    ReplyDelete
  107. @praneeth : You have lot of time...revise all the topics...study all the topics you have left and the extra topics in all the subjects

Apart from that whenever you attempt any mock test see to it that you dont spend more than 1 min on any question...check my post on last moment tips for cracking BITSAT...and remember that your future depends on these few days...all the best for your exam

@Anonymous 1 : please check the last year cutoffs...I would say 270+ for duals and 300+ for engineering

@apurva : You mean performance in first year??? For compsci it is around 7.8-8+ and EEE 7.5+ which is bit tough

@Anonymous :BITS does not give any ranks..the cutoffs are based on the score you get...hopefully you should get a dual degree

    @Anonymous with 252 : Mostly Bio or B.Pharm

@sam : Maths level is way lower than AIEEE 2009 maths....First thing try to revise your syllabus in Mathematics...by heart basic formulae and model problems....and practice one BITSAT paper everyday...rectify your mistakes and you will get good marks for sure :)

@Varun : Dual degree a strict no for people who want to enjoy their engineering :)

As for cutoffs i am hoping that they will remain the same...As for VIT I dont think it is that good a college...search GoIIT for disussions on VIT
    ReplyDelete
  108. @Anonymous with 312 : You sure will be...Please elaborate more on your paper

@mnt : Arrihant is a good book for BITSAT preparaion...you need to consistently score above 360 in the practice tests to get CSE :)

@Om : Mostly yes....EEE also for sure...can you elaborate more on your paper and your other marks like AIEEE and JEE

    @Anonymous : Yes

    @Anonymous with 263 : Hmmmm

@Anonymous : They will provide a book...if used properly it will be more than sufficient for the rough work

@Anonymous : Finally a score above 400...good to hear...as I have always told people who study properly will find BITSAT to be easy and mostly from NCERT :)

@gaurav : Might get in Goa campus...Goa campus has developed a lot and by the time you pass out it will be one of the best engineering college in India for sure

    @Anonymous : Engineering in Goa/Hyd...duals in all 3

  115. got 303 can i get chemical in Pilani??
will cut offs fall,i thought paper was slightly tougher or it wasn't my luck?
    ReplyDelete
  116. Sir,
the various sections of the paper I gave were as follows:
English : mostly simple with 1-2 difficult words. The sentence completions and corrections were easy but the comprehensions were slightly tricky. The level was slightly lower than SAT.
    Logical reasoning : easy
Chemistry : The questions were more focused on physical chemistry with a few difficult problems . Organic part was simple. Make sure you do ionic equilibrium and coordination compounds thoroughly.
Maths : Be very careful. It is an easy paper but about 13-15 questions are slightly time consuming if done by conventional methods. Make sure to look at the options before attempting. Many hints are hidden in them. I lost a lot of time on this section.
Physics : Deals mostly with the basics. Make sure you revise 11th class topics well especially SHM and mechanics. Paper was pretty conceptual.

    I hope this helps.

Also can i get M.Sc. in chemistry in Pilani this time around.

    Thanks
    ReplyDelete
  117. @gaurav - No 2000 seats only...BITS Goa was and is a very good college...hyd will take time to develop..Cutoff for Pilani wont change by much

please help as i am expecting a rank between 1000-1500 in jee and 500-1000 in aieee 2009!!

    ReplyDelete
  134. @Anonymous : Civil in Pilani and duals in other exams...if at all cutoffs decrease then you mite get Chemical...anyways prefer dual if you have the determination to study for one more year...else go for engineering

@bikram : Ya they do...my initial score was 305...it got increased to 309

@Mukul : tough luck bro...anyways go for IIT...with 1000-1500 you will get a good degree

  150. Bitsat was comparatively easier than AIEEE, as was expected.

    ReplyDelete
  151. @Sumukh : By heart as much as you can...NCERT teaches only the concepts..the formula may be a derivation using the concepts and the problem may be a direct application of the problem..

@Dylan : Maybe may be not...but what is also important is the time you spend on practice

@310 : Ya there is...But take this situation..you are competing with 800 other students of your level and many more than your level...and you need to be on the top...by top only 3-4 students get a transfer to CompSci...3-4 to EEE and so on..on the whole around 10 students get transfer...10 out of 800..are you ready to take the pressure and can you think you can do it????
On the other hand if you take a dual ...you need to copete with 200 guys..need to be among the top 40 to get CompSci( among this 200 not the 800)

@bishar : please read the dual degree post...ya and about M.Sc. i will write another post..do wait for it

@ashar : I doubt taking Maths at the end...I would always advice any guy/gal to take Physics at the end...If you have good practice and are good with elimination techniques then you can complete maths in 50-60 mins which is good considering you have 180 min :)

    Anyways congrats once again

    ReplyDelete
  157. hi sir,
    i tuk my bitsat on 14th n scored 335.My analysis :
Phy:most of da ques. were short widout req. tedious cal.. n pretty easy .....3 ques. were from Irodov ( but don't go by da name & worry those ques. are pretty popular....i recall having solved them during my jee prep....)..i wud rate it at par wid aieee 2009
maths........calculus formed da bulk........xcept 4 few ques most were easy..(much easier than aieee...)
chem....some ques seemed to drop from an alien world(esp. inorganic)...but main focus on basics....(i wud rate it as slightly tougher than aieee 2009.)
eng. & LR were a cakewalk in my case..xcept 4 some wierd words asked......

sir , although this is my first post ..i have been reading your posts reg. bitsat must say it was pretty hellpful...kudos to u 4 the great job that have done 4 the aspirants....most ppl take an initiative but do not have the tenacity to sustain it....thnx sir

going by last yrs cut off sir, i might miss out cse or eee at pilani campus....but i may get mech.....i want to pursue cs owing to my interest in comp....... i might get cs at goa campus ...... should i prefer pilani with another branch or take cs at goa......
can i xpect goa to be at par with pilani??????.....
    ReplyDelete
  158. @anonymous : Aroiund 9.7 which means you must atmost make two B..rest A

    @Sandeep: good analysis

Go with your interests...Goa is a very good campus...dont keep any negative thoughts in your mind...Goa is at par with Pilani

  163. hi,
thank u for answering my question sir. i have one more doubt.
considering that cs pilani is a borderline case for my score(351), could i opt for cs in goa or should i go for electrical/others at pilani itself? (please consider both academics and prospective placements while answering this.

    ReplyDelete
  170. YA thanx a lot sir i'll try my exam is on 22nd
but now it's really becoming difficult to improve the scores chemistry is too tuff to handle in Page tests.... there r too many memory based questions....but i'll try but is this score descent enough to get a good branh in pilani campus
    ReplyDelete
  171. hey i've been gettin 290 or so in the arihant tests i've taken so far...n i'm aud at the concepts of phy n chem.....hav d xam on d 23rd.is it btr 4 me to mug up da memory-based topics inchem or go 4 d numericals, given d short time i hav?
    ReplyDelete
  172. @Ayush : When you attempt any memory based questions..try to by heart the answers...330+ for good disciplines in Pilani :)

@abhilash : Hmm try to study the memory based topics....many people have said that the number of memory based question are more in Chemistry...apart from that spend 1 hr per day for revision of basic chem formulas and equations
    ReplyDelete
  173. More scores:
1 of my friends got 393 in 2days bitsat and ive heard from others that he left the exam hall 30 mins early!!! btw, his aieee score is ~300 and jee score is ~250...
As more friends of mine answer the test I will post their scores here for the benefit of aspirants like myself :)

  174. Thanks for ur reply,
Physics was easy. for me there were questions which required to know the def. of surface tension.so better be strong with the basics.
in chemistry ,more concentration on theory was required.
in maths most of the probs. could be solved by elimination and substitution. there was less emphasis on 2-d geometry.
my advice would be not to take the extra questions until ur 100% sure with the other answers. by Ahamed

  176. hi arvind
Is it true that most of the faculty members of bits pilani have moved to hyderabad?
    i'm really worried
    ReplyDelete
  177. Well i gave my bitsat on 15th and scored 354 ..paper level was easy.. though maths tuk a lot of tym..
i would lyk to know my options and whether in the current scene an electrical degree will be more beneficial than one in comp sc.
also im getting arnd 215 in iit..so chances of a good stream seem slim there..
    ReplyDelete
  178. @Ahamed: Hmmm..I agrre with "Be styrong with your basics" :)

@Anonymous : The level is almost the same...the cutoffs are expected to increase slightly

@gowtham : Where do you get suhc news???The total faculty in BITS is more than 400....do you expect all of them to move to Hyderabad to teach a atch of 600 guys???

Anyways the number of BITSian faculty that left to Hyderabad campus was 12...others were recruited through interviews...I am pretty sure about this as BITS campus is close to my house and I know almost everyone of the 12 :)

@Nakull : There is no current scenario my friend.... Computer Science is not only working in IT sector...computer science is a huge field...Example : Image Processing..Quantum Computation...Bio Informatics...Nano Sciences...In every research field you need comp sci guys...

If you are interested in Computer Science go for it..else go for EEE...

According to me both have equal research opportunities with compsci having an edge in placements

    hi sir
i gave my bitsat today and i got 323.First of all i owe a lot to u. your site did wonders for me. i wasn,t expectng to go thru bitsat with these nos.(though not that good they are pretty good fr me). as far as level of ques was concered they were pretty easy(completion of syllabus helped as most ques were formula based or simple conceptual knowledge based ).maths was too easy.and chem had many ques of bio.
BTW i am expecting a rank of 1500 in jee but i m not getting mech. in any of 4 iit's. i prefer doing Electronics frm BITS goa.wud that b a good decision?
thank u very much:-)wish u get placed well

  184. I gave my bitsat a few days ago and got a score of 399.

(I had posted here a few days before my bitsat too)

  185. btw one question in my bitsat was not completely correct .The same question came to some of my friends who gave the exam in the same session as me. It was a magnetic effect of current question but the direction of current was not mentioned and the options had the correct answer but with one option with +ve sign and other with -ve sign.
Can anything be done about it now?Its me again .

Do you need a detailed analysis or do you have enough of it from the other students?

  189. What all b.e. branches will I get at 299?

  190. @Anonymous : Change date???dont think it is possible...revise the basic problems and formulas..it should help

@Nikhil : There is nothing like weakness in maths... Without Maths there is no engineering...anyways Comp Sci is a lot of Mathematics..Civil less of maths

@Abhi : the cutoffs are bound to remain same....Try for those degrees in Goa campus..it is very good and on par with Pilani Campus

@Himanshu : Buzz me when you get your JEE rank...and congrats :)

@Swapnil : if you dont get a decent degree in the old IIT's join BITS..and ya I do require a detailed analysis...as for your wrong questions the marks should be increased

    @Nikhil : Already replied

@nakull : It is a good score...authentic rankings...hahaha the rankings are just fake...can u believe Amity ranked first???

Anyways see the pther factors like the placements scope for Higher studies the campus the seniors(alumni) and decide

Talk to seniors from different colleges before taking a decision

@Vishal : Check last year cutoffs

  191. Swapnil Once again->
Here are my views on the bitsat exam.
The most important thing which most people dont plan about is time.I finished all i could do in the 150 questions (143 i think) in 2.5 hours leaving me 15 minutes to attempt and/ or guess the rest in 15 coz i wanted to leave 15 minutes for the extra questions.
But most of my friends were barely able to finish the paper in the 3 hrs alloted.
So the most important thing when one solves a practice paper is not solving the paper itself coz one does enough of that while preparing for other exams but developing a solid strategy for solving the paper .Then all mock papers must be attempted using the same strategy to fine tune it and get used to it.
Another thing people do is get stuck at a problem. If looking at the question does not suggest some solution or at least the road to a solution then move on.(This is for intelligent students)For those a bit less intelligent give yourself at least 10- 15 seconds.
There is nothing tough about the paper.
There were more direct theory based questions than any other competitive exams.
However some questions in maths and physics were pretty good requiring some thinking(especially maths).
Chemistry was focussed more on stereoisomers and knowledge based questions one of which i had never even remotely heard about (some polymer based question).
Overall as i said only key to a 330+ score is time management and a decent approach to solving the paper.
Btw does this even qualify as a comment?

  192. sumukh: jus wana ask... can d Questions in maths be solved by diffrnt means?
i mean..by putting d options in d equatn, by takin examples of difffrnt angles in trigno..
ya u nd 2 solve each n evry Question...

and in phy r d options alwys dimensionaly ryt?
many a tyms evn at briliants mock tests , it is ezy 2 figure out d ans by jus lukin at d options

I would like to congragulate you for your strategy & the result there of.Many people do not even realise that there need to be a winning strategy for every thing.
I had suggested the same strategy to my son.His test is on 26 th & i am sure this is the winning strategy.
I even asked him to write it down & keep it in front of him while doing the mock tests so that he never forgets it.
Congrats once again & thanks for your post.

  194. @Swapnil : :)

@sumukh: Ya they can be...infact BITSAT maths/physics is easy when you employ such methods....

@Venkatesh Sir : I do agree with you...one must always have strategy and practice with that in the mock tests...only then it is easy to get good marks :)

  196. Hello! i gave my bitsat on 16th and i got a score of 321...will i get ece or eee in hyderabad campus since u are expecting the cutoff to increase?

I am expecting arnd 220 in jee and 290 in aieee....hoping for nit trichy, but i hav given up hopes on jee coz my rank projection is 3000-5000... :(

I felt that bitsat was easy and quite similar to aieee...physics was very easy and chem had loads of theory questions in inorganic but i found maths tough and time consuming...english and l.r was alrite...i was able to finish phy, chem and english in 90 mins, but i spent too much time on maths...so didnt hav tym for the bonus qns!

I wrote vit and amrita entrances too...vit didnt go that well but i got rank 90 in amrita...

And is the hyderabad campus as good as the pilani and goa campuses? Should i just go for the bits brand?? Or should i take nit trichy if i get it?? Im based in chennai....and im really confused!!! Plz help!!
    ReplyDelete
  197. @Swapnil : Will do...need to do some research before writing such post

@Pujita : I cant give a good reply here.....If you get a good degree in NIT trichy go for it only If you are not in a position to join the goa or Pilani campus

But i would seriously advice you to consider join Pilani/Goa campus...you will get a good degree
