Difference between Duals and Trasnfer at BITS

I have seen many people getting confused between dual degrees and transfers. So here is a post to clear all your doubts. Please check this link before reading this article - Doubts about Dual Degree - Click Here

  • What are different types of duals? What kind of dual is it if we take M.Sc.(hons) degree?
There are two types of duals - One is the dual under first priority and the second dual in other priority .

Under first priority you get a dual in Engineering / B.Pharm compulsorily . The dual you get depends on your performance in first year.

For example for CompSci dual in Pilani the cutoff CGPA(performance in first year on a 10 scale) is around 7.8/10 . Civil the cutoff is sround 5/10 .
Even if you perform badly you get a dual - worst case B.Pharm dual.

The good thing about Goa campus is they dont have B.Pharm and Civil engineering...so worst case you get Chemical Dual :)

The M.Sc. (hons) duals fall under the category of first priority.

The second is duals under other categories - You need very good CGPA to get a dual under other categories. The CGPA should be 9+ for an engineering dual and 8.5+ for an M.Sc. (hons) dual

Ya you read it right - you can take an M.Sc. ( hons) dual irrespective your first degree

Some known dual degrees under other priorities in campus
  • B.E. Mech + B.E. CompSci - Ex : The guy joined with Mech took CompSci as dual after first year with a CGPA around 9.5
  • B.E. Mech + B.E. EEE -
  • B.E. EEE + B.E. CompSci
  • M.Sc.(hons) Mathematics + M.Sc.(hons) Physics
  • B.E. CompSci + M.Sc. (hons) Mathematics
  • B.E. EEE + M.Sc. (hons) Physics
  • M.Sc.(hons) Physics + M.Sc.(hons) Mathematics

  • What is this transfer to other degree?
Every person does the same course in first year irrespective of the degree with which he joins. So based on your performance in first year irrespective of what degree you are in you can get a transfer of your choice. The cutoffs CGPA's are very high.Around 10 students get a transfer to the degree of theri choice.

To explain in detail whether you join with B.Pharm or with Chemical Engineering or an M.Sc.(hons) Mathematics or M.Sc. ( hons) Biology if you cross a CGPA of 9.5 you can get a transfer to the degree of your choice.

  • Is this transfer tough?
Ya it is very very tough - You need to compete with hunderds of guys of same calibre or more than you and you have to be among the toppers of that batch - It is tough and requires lot of hard work and mental determination . Dont jojn BITS with some degree hoping to get a transfer. Only few do it and you may not be among that few.

  • What is this dual degree transfer??
Ok I forgot there is another kind of transfer - Thanks to killer kiran I am editing this post :)

An M.Sc.(hons) guy can get a transfer to another M.Sc. (hons) degree after first year . This transfer is not directly based on your CGPA but on the engineering degree you obtain after first year.

Say I join with M.Sc.(hons) Biology and then based on my CGPA i get a dual in B.E. Computer Science . Then I can opt for a transfer to M.Sc.(hons) Mathematics

My final degree would be M.Sc.(hons) Mathematics with B.E. (hons) Computer Science

If you get a CompSci dual you can transfer easily to Mathematics and if you get EEE dual you can easily transfer to Physics

Transfer to Economics is based purely on CGPA...the one with higher CGPA among those who applied will get the transfer

  • Is dual possible with M.Sc(tech) Information Systems and M.Sc(tech) Finance. How is it different from M.Sc.(Hons) degrees?
Ya it is possible but these duals unlike M.Sc.(hons) will be duals under other priority and require a very good CGPA . You are not gauranteed a dual if you take M.Sc.(tech) degrees .
Only for M.Sc(Hons) degrees you are gauranteed an engineering/b.pharm dual

Any other doubts post them here but please read the complete article and only then post. All irrelevant comments will not be entertained.

P.S : I have been kind of rude lately with my replies but you guys must understand that it is a tough process to reply to every question. i am very much irritated when people without reading other articles just want me to act as their BITSAT branch predictor/campus predictor. Please read the articles... Dont put vague questions...ask genuine questions...Even if they are lenghty I try to answer it.

P.P.S : Thanks to all your wishes I have got my PS 2 @ Qualcomm Hyderabad .

  1. sir.. if get msc. bio at goa(wid my bitsat score 253) it will be tougher to get transferred to msc phy or msc. maths .. right? and it wud b relatively easier to get a mechanical or eee b.e. dual in 2nd year? plz post the corresponding required cgpa for both for me to get a comparison. as it is difficult to get msc phy/math for me i wish a transfer. u got a similar transfer sir, didn't u? do i require to work too hard for it? in that case, i may consider dropping this year...

  2. hi
i scored 295 in bitsat09, after lookin at prev yr cutoffs i think i cant get any BE degree(directly) frm pilani campus.
n i can take msc(hons)or msc tech-info system. now here is wht the prob is:-
among all the msc's i wanna take msc tech info systems but if i take it thn all the ways 4 BE r jst closed coz the dual degree option is 4 msc(hons) only or else the cgpa is vry high.

my aim is to pursue a BE degree in either CS or EEE only(obviously in dual degree now),is it gettable with sincere efforts.
i asked someone who graduated frm bits n he told me tht its very very tough to score a cgpa higher thn 9 n i think it'll be tht much 4 both these branches.
thts where i m stuck if by chance i cant get any of these BE(duals) thn i think msc(hons) only is not tht much gud and msc tech info systems w'd hve been a better choice.
i knw its tough to get a BE(duals) in cs n elec bt is it vry tough bcz it'll be vry risky if i jst hope to get it.
plz once again tell how many seats r exactly available 4 each branch in duals n hw many students r there in B group coz if seats r more(abt 40 in each) n students r abt 200(total in B grp) thn the chances r more to get a BE duals even if get in top 50-60's.

AS A SUMMARY MY QUES IS WHT IS THE CGPA FOR MSC(HONS)+BE IN CS OE EEE n WILL IT BE OK IF I TAKE MSC(HONS-ANY BRANCH) HOPING TO GET A DUAL IN CS OR EEE ??
plz reply to it in detail coz its vry imp to me n u r the best expertise at this time around the net. also it w'd help a lot of students like me

ur advice will play the key role to decide abt the branch.

  3. sir...about the dual degree transfer....is it easy to transfer myself from msc bio to msc physics if i get Mechanical Eng. in the 2nd year???

.......also i hav some doubts about cgpa....is it very difficult to get a cgpa of 7.5-8+..in the 1st year???
    ReplyDelete
  4. ......also u said that "Every person does the same course in first year irrespective of the degree with which he joins"..........does it mean that a msc maths guy studies the same thing which a msc bio guy studies in the 1st year????

    ....thnx in advance...
    ReplyDelete
  5. @mayank : You get a dual irrespective of your original M.Sc...you study the same courses and require the same CGPA for a particular dual whether you are doin M.Sc. Bio or M.Sc. Physics..AsI have said before the cutoffs are like this CompSci - 7.8+ EEE - 7.5+ EIE - 7+ Mech - 6.6+ Chemical /Civil - 5.2+ ...this is not the exact cutoff but something close to that
Dropping a year is a worse option according to me...go for the duals

@Vivek : There is no detailed explanation required....refer to the reply to mayank...No one goes for a dual with M.Sc.(tech) degrees as they themselves are self sufficient and have good placement and higher studies opportunities

@samikshan : Hmm as far as i know mech guys dont get Physics dual easily...and dont join BITS only hoping for a transfer in M.Sc.(hons)...join in dual degree to get a good dual in engineering....the rest follows...as for hardwork it is more mental strength than the actual physical work...no compulsory attendance...departments...clubs...projects..computers..games...movies...tech fest...cul fest...so many things happen in campus...One must balance his time with extra curricular activities and academics and it is not that easy...

Ya a bio guy and a maths guy do the same courses in first year
    ReplyDelete
  6. quote"An M.Sc.(hons) guy can get a transfer to another M.Sc. (hons) degree after first year . This transfer is not directly based on your CGPA but on the engineering degree you obtain after first year."

You gave 2 examples, ie CS-->Math and EEE---->Phys.

Does this hold even for Chemical------>MSc Chemistry?
I mean suppose I join as MSc Bio and after 1st year get the BE in chemical eng, can I easily shift to MSc Chemistry?
    ReplyDelete
  7. @dylan : Ya kind of though Chemical is not that related to Chemistry...there are guys in campus who took such transfer
    ReplyDelete
  8. hello sir...
1> can it be concluded that the required cgpa for b.e. wud be low in goa campus as it does not have b.pharm or civil? the cut off cgpa posted above in mayank's reply are for pilani campus i guess....
2> also i wanna confirm whether goa campus also facilitates transfer from msc. bio to physics or maths if one gets computer sci or eee dual in 2nd yr??
3> are such transfers also less likely for the guys who get EIE dual ( as u said it is difficult for mechanical dual in samikshan's reply)
4> finally, these transfers r optional, aren't they? so can't i opt for msc. physics tranfer rather than msc maths tranfer(from msc. bio) if i get computer sci dual.
sorry for long query.. and thanx in advance
    ReplyDelete
  9. @vaibhav :
    1) CGPA is a relative grading so the cutoffs are almost same except for the lower degrees
2)ya all campuses have the same system
    3)Ya it is...
    4) Mostly no..the BITSian authortities have a notion that Maths is more related to CompSci than Physics and EEE is more related to Physics than Maths

Anyways when you have a good CGPA anything can happen :)

  10. ihave got 267 hoping in waiting list.if it comes do i have to go to pilani to deposit 15000 to remain in race. or at what stage we have to go &how many times dont know any thing about adm. process steps please clear the procedure
    ReplyDelete
  11. hello sir......u told samikshan that getting a good cgpa in the 1st year depends more on mental strength..........

......now sir one thing is that i know that i can work really hard but considerin the distractions u just mentioned lets say that i giv only 1/4th of the effort i gav while i was seriously preparing for my IITJEE xams.......can i manage a cgpa of 7.5+.....
.....im really sorry abt this question which may be stupid.....but im really getting so badly confused....
    ReplyDelete
  12. hello sir my score in bitsat 2009 is 288 which would better sir-opting a dual degree in pilani or a B.E in hyderabad?iam from hyd also sir what does a cgpa of a student depend on
    ReplyDelete
  13. @267 : You go to campus only on July 28 when you are confirmed a seat @ BITS...else everything happens online....will write a post on admission process later

@bob : There is a saying in BITS - " Every one was a topper before joining BITS...only after becoming a BITSian people change" ...As I say it again and again mental strength is required for your success...even if you put 25% of your effort you will get a CompSci dual...but one must have lot of determination to put 25% effort

@288 : Anything would do....prefer Hyd if you want to enjoy...seen many Guys from Hyd come to Pilani and screw up their duals...join Pilani only if you have good determination
    ReplyDelete
  14. Sir,
I am a little confused after reading your article and the posts that various people have sent.I do not exactly understand the entire procedure.I got a 274 in my BITSAT and seeing last year's cutoffs, I see I can manage an M.Sc.(Hons) in Biological Sciences at Pilani. Now, what I want to know is that if I opt for a dual in a B.E. course:
1.What exactly are my chances of getting a B.E. in 2nd year.It doesnt matter which stream it is.
2.What exactly will my degree be called?A dual in M.Sc.(Hons)..Bioligical Sciences and...???
3.What will be the duration of the course?
4.How feasible, do you think, is this option going to be?
    ...Please answer my question.
    ReplyDelete
  15. @Anushree Sinha : Why are you confused??? What are the points that are confusing you?? Normally I wouldn't reply to such repeated queries but you seem to be very confused

    1) You are assured of a B.E. / B.Pharm dual if you join a dual degree....If you cross a CGPA of 5 you are assured of getting a B.E> dual

    2) M.Sc.(Hons) Biology + B.E.(Hons) Computer Science if you get a CompSci dual

    3) 5 years

    4) What do you mean by feasible...in every batch alomst 1/3 of the batch take up dual degrees
    ReplyDelete
  16. Hello!

I was wondering wat u meant by:

" B.E. Mech + B.E. CompSci - Ex : The guy joined with Mech took CompSci as dual after first year with a CGPA around 9.5
    B.E. Mech + B.E. EEE -
    B.E. EEE + B.E. CompSci"

Does this mean i can take 2 BE courses together?

I have a score of 322 in BITSAT & want BE in comp. sc. But my parents want me to do BE in ECE.
So can i really get both?
    Is it possible?
So in the end isn't this better than the BE First year Integrated degree?
As we have two BE degrees in hand?

Each of the two will have equal status rite,to the degree i get if i simply do my single BE in Comp Sc/ECE?
Please reply.I am eager to know!
    :)
    Arpit
    ReplyDelete
  17. @Arpit : Read properly...these duals are based on your performance in first year and are not compulsorily given...They are not based on your BITSAT score

Work very hard and then go for such duals...1-2 guys take such duals and are generally considered to be psychos :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. @293 : You will get duals in pilani...very very less chance of getting an engineering...go for your preferred engineering followed by duals...will write a post on the preferred order

@Anonymous : I dont have a good idea about Manufacturing engg except that it is a specialization in mechanical engg

As for M.Sc. (hons) and M.Sc.(tech) difference check the post on difference between duals and transfers
    ReplyDelete
  21. Kaushik: I have got 277 in BITSAT 09. What are my chances of getting MSc(Tech) Finance/EnggTech of MSc(Hons)Economics in pilani/goa? And what are the prospects of MSc Economics?
    ReplyDelete
  22. @kaushik : You must get Eco @ Goa...M.Sc ( tech) Finance/Engg tech are not to be preferred over M.Sc.(hons) degrees...You dont get duals with M.Sc.(tech) degrees

I hope you have read about M.Sc.(hons) dual degrees in which you can get engineering degree as a dual after first year....else you are another confused soul...Do read my posts on dual degrees first

As for Eco it is the best M.Sc.(hons) degree....easy courses and very good opportunities...very easy to jump to MS/MBA in finance
    ReplyDelete
  23. Arvind, you started with MSC Bio and then switched to Physics? Can you explain more? What BE degree you have? I thought one can get the BE after 1 year but in your case your MSc also changed. Is that a transfer case? Did you have very high CGPA after first year?

    Mukul.

  24. I am sorry sir that I am posting my question here as the cut off forum has been closed
I am getting 277 , would I make up to msc bio in Pilani . My friends and teachers say that cut off for BITS PILANI is going to decrease seeing the difficulty level and also because of the fact that students of south would prefer hyd\goa . I am again sorry sir for posting the question here and I request you to again start responding to that forum as it will help many other pupil like me .
    ReplyDelete
  25. sir u mentioned about distractions in an earlier post that will make me fight to even give 1/4th of my effort........does ragging come in that distractions list as well.....???

...also sir another question....how harsh is the ragging at pilani and goa campus???

......i'v read some posts on bits360 and im very terrified!!!!!
    ReplyDelete
  26. @Mukul : As I have said before your M.Sc. transfer depends on the engineering degree you get after first year

I got CompSci as dual so was easy to get a transfer to Mathematics

My room mate had EEE as dual so he got a trasnfer to Physics

It is not directly dependent on your CGPA but the dual you get

@277 : Mostly you shld get it...i am expecting the cutoffs to increase...hope that they dont

@dennis : Ragging...no dude...BITS has almost nil ragging...Infact BITSian seniors are very helpful

And for the distractions they can be anything like computers...lan games...departments....projects.... coding...anything which you can waste your time :)
    ReplyDelete
  27. Thanks Arvind that explains. Just one more clarification. If you wanted to keep MSc Bio Sciences alongwith BE Comp Sc, would that be allowed?

    Mukul.
    ReplyDelete
  28. @Mukul : Why not??? Transfer is just an option and not a compulsion....
Many guys have interest in Bio and want to do a compsci dual as engineering...so why shld the BITS authorities force them to do something else??
    ReplyDelete
  29. sir for transfers also ie frm msc bio to msc math or phy u require a good gpa or d gpa jst decides ur eng degree in d dual
    ReplyDelete
  30. @Anonymous : The CGPA just decides your Eng degree :)
    ReplyDelete
  31. Hello sir!
    i got 326 in BITSAT.

I know i can get a good degree in Goa (& with some luck) in Pilani too (especially as ppl around who did manage to get a higher score than me, are opting for iit..i got a really bad rank in JEE sadly!)

But will it be possible for you to tell me the approx no. of seats for BE comp sc and EEE degrees in the campuses? so that i can decide which to choose?
and determine the odds of me going where?

This is mainly so that i can choose whether to take dual ( in pilani ..for repute..n then hopefully get vertical transfer) or BE in Goa.

One more thing...(bit silly ques) can the 12th std marks help me get an advantage during admission? i got a 100 in ISC Maths, 96 in phy,88 in chem.

Thanx 4 ur help in advance!

[ The question abt no. of comp sc n eee seats in campuses is the main ques ]

    Tipra :)

  32. sir sry to put d post again..bt den wht decides our transfer 4m msc bio to math or phy

  33. sir ds s sneha will i b able to make it to pilani e1 msc bio wid 276??m ready 2 work hard 4 1 year bt i dnt wanna drop?m also in d eml?what do ur suggest??i d probably get a rank around 15000 to 20000 in aieee
    ReplyDelete
  34. @Tipra : CSE and EEE seats around 90 for B.E.....plus 35-40 for the duals...but the number your concerned with is 90+90

Your previous marks dont matter...Only your performance @ BITS matters

You might get Mech @ Pilani but the sensible choice is to choose CompSci in Goa

@sry guy/girl : the engineering dual you get

@sneha : Join BITS...you shld get it mostly...else go for other campuses
    ReplyDelete
  35. Dear Arvind,

I have read your article on dual courses at the BITS which is quite elaborate and informative. My son has scored 244 marks in BITSAT online test. Will he be able to get admission in one of the dual courses in BITS Pilani. If not will it be advisable to join similar course in GOA or Hyderabad campus. He has got an all India rank of 21498 in AIEEE. What are his chances of getting into one of the NITs. Pl. suggest an optimum path to a wary father.
    ReplyDelete
  36. @Ravindra Nath : Sir, according to last year cutoffs it will be very difficult for your son to get into dual degree courses @ Pilani or Goa...may get Bio Sci in Hyderabad..

I dont know much about NIT cutoffs...please post it on www.goiit.com

  37. sir if sumone get bio sci as a dual in pilani....den wat cgpa req to transfer it 2 eco or maths or phy........

For Eco though you need a very high CGPA

I too had a dream of going into bits but i got seriously ill on the day and ended up with just 240, are there any chances of me getting there with msc.(hons.) and persuing a dual degree after first year.
Another thing that I wanted to ask was that I did 12th with pcm ,then also can I take economics or bio four msc. if I get a chance and would it be logical with me knowing nothing of the two...
    Please help me,

can I take Bpharma. or msc in economics or bio. this year and change it to msc(hons)in physics or chem or maths+civil or mechanical or computer or eee after first year...what is needed to do so?I scorer 243 in bitsat.
    ReplyDelete
  51. @Suma : If you do that you will end up with a very high CGPA :)
Go for M.Sc. Eco followed by Physics or Maths or Chemistry and then Bio...but before that go for the engineering degrees of your choice..ya you can get a transfer from Civil to Mechanical based on your CGPA...

@240 : Only MPC guys are allowed into BITS...and dont worry about Bio or Eco...people have always enjoyed doing those courses...

As for your score I am not sure if you can get a dual @ BITS seeing last year cutoffs

    @241 : refer above post

also by how much mrks do u expect the cutoffs for msc bio to rise in hyd/goa campuses
    ReplyDelete
  53. sir... to convert b pharma to civil/msc(chem) or to cse with msc(physics or maths) or to eee with msc(physics or maths) how much nearabout cgpa is required in first year....
sorry to ask so many questions but I really need advise
    ReplyDelete
  54. @Anonymous : You are totally confused...
You can get a transfer to only one degree at a time...so it simply means you cannot transfer from B.Pharm to a M.Sc.(hons) degree and hope for a dual...no that is not possible

You get a transfer to EEE,CompSci or Chemical directly

For that you need CGPA above 9.2

And you are very confused...read about dual degrees carefully before commenting again

And dont join B.Pharm hoping to get a transfer...very tuff

  55. hi
this is harsha, i dunno if this is the right place to post it or whether someones already asked this..i'd really appreciate a clarification
i didn't score too well in my bitsat...got a 272...last years cutoff showed that i could get msc eco or phy or math in goa..i have a few doubts
1)since my score is 272, firstly do i have a chance at all??
2)the cutoff that is put up is the closing cut off right??.is there any chance of this increasing??
3)there is a new course in pilani i think...manufacturing engg..can i assume that the cut offs will further reduce for the dual degree courses because of this?..if so by how much do you think it will??
4)for my score, in which iteration do you think i will get a call, if i do get a call that is?
5)is there any chance that the engg cut offs will remain the same but the dual decrease..especially in pilani and goa..because,firstly more seats in the iit..and since hyd is picking up!!??
    ReplyDelete
  56. @harsha : wrong post

    1) Ya
    2) Slightly maybe
    3) May be
    4) Second or third iteration
    5) ya the cutoffs for duals in Pilani campus might come down as people will be more interested to join Engg @ Goa/Hyd

Meanwhile I have been admitted to PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAY PETROLEUM UNIVERSITY GANDHINAGAR AHMEDABAD for B Tech in Petroleum Technology.I consider this to be a growing field with assured placement in Oil cos.however I am bit worried about the reactions that Petro tech may not good for girls.I am likely to get M.Sc.Bio in BITS. Dear sir,

I got 273 marks bitsat 2009.  I did not opt for M.SC(Hons),MSC(Tech) in first semester counselling. I could not get admission into any engg disciplines in I semester. I heard there is a II semester admission in BITS. These are my queries :

    1. Do the cutoff for second semester admissions will be different than that of I semester ?
    2. For these marks, Can I get mech or EEE in any of the Pilani campuses ?
or can I get into any engg. disciplines in any of the campuses which I could not get in I semester admissions.
    3. If I opt for a MSC(Hons), what will be the probability of getting into Mech Engg at the end of one year ? Does the CGPA cut-0ffs same for II semester admissions also ?
    4. What are the advantages / disadvantages related to II semseter admissions.
    5. At the end of 4 or 5 years, when the batch will come out i.e. in Jan or in June ? In case batch comes out in January are we not wasting another 6 months as all further studies start in June/Aug of a year ? or will the courses can be completed in 3.5 or 4.5 years for BE(Hons), MSC(Hons) respectively.
    6. How many seats are likely to be there for II semester admissions ?
    7. how the students passing out in II semester admissions fare visavis students admitted during I semester in all aspects?
    8. As the no.of seats are limited is there is any risk for opting Dual degrees in II semester, as only few people may qualify for CSE,Mech or eCE branches ?
    9. Why these II semester admissions are done ? Is it due to some persons leaving the institute during first semester ? How the vacancies /no.of seats in each branch are decided for II semester admissions?

    1) The second semester cutoffs are high - tough luck to get duals
    2) No - the cutoffs are high
    3) Ya knid of - infact u have a better chance of getting a good dual as there is les competition
    4) Advantages - you dont waste an year Disadvantages - Mostly nothing
    5) It will complete in 4 years from jan that is u will passout in jan again :)  Will explain the details in later post
    6) Very few - only those seats which are not filled
    7) They have better CGPA's :)
    8) There is no risk if you are prepared to work hard and get a good dual
    9) BITS does not have a fixed number of seats for any discipline - it so happens that some seats are not filled either due to lesser number of dual degree applicants or sometimes due to transfers or worst case people leaving BITS - so to fill up those instead of idiotically wasting the infrastructure and money BITS has this second sem admission system :)

  66. Hi Arpana,
You will get duals. Giving BITSAT next year is a risk. Instead put half of that effort and you could end up with a Computer Science or a EEE dual :)

  67. Sir, I got 291 in bitsat. According to last years cut off I can get chemical at goa and hyderabad and civil at hyderabad... Would I get them in the first round or in the subsequent rounds..plzz reply...I have dropped a year so is it wise to take duals..

  68. sir
if i get in msc hons and manage to get a B.E dual at the end of first year, can i quit msc?

  69. I have a score of 295 in BITSAT 2010.
I know I won't get a core stream aa pilani.

    * Can I get M.Sc in Chem, maths, phy at pilani? Preferably physics.
    * How are the placements for the dual guys, does it depend on the "Dual" tag? Are they less preferred?
    * And,
    * Do we get two different degrees at the end of 5 years? So, like I need not show my M.Sc at while applying for an engineering job.?
    * Are the degrees from BITS Pilani Recognised? Recognised in the sense for IAS, IES and other competetive exams?
    * How difficult is it to get mech, eee,e and i, and cs with duals?

And, regarding the following extract from your blog,
    "

    * What is this dual degree transfer??

What are the options in this regard for mechanical?

  72. "Some known dual degrees under other priorities in campus

    * B.E. Mech + B.E. CompSci - Ex : The guy joined with Mech took CompSci as dual after first year with a CGPA around 9.5"

How much time does this dual take?
