BITSAT 2009 - A complete analysis







Sorry friends , was busy with my intern (PS2) in QualComm.
So here is a small analysis of BITSAT 2009 - As usual in points :)

1) The level of exams remained same with greater emphasis on basic concepts and formulas and memory based questions in Chemistry.

2) The cutoffs increased drastically because of the increase in positive perception about BITS - also people are more informed about Dual degrees now.

3) Though I hate to talk about it but reservations had a negative effect on IIT's and NIT's - many bright students who couldn't get a better rank in these exams preferred BITS.

4) The LPBP - Let us promote BITS Pilani program started by the BITS alumni was successful and many parents had their myths about BITS cleared.

5) The competition to get into BITS has increased and with the increased % of students aiming for a good and competitive engineering college will make BITSAT entrance even tougher.

6) But as I have always told the cutoffs are close to 270 (266 for M.Sc. Bio Hyd and 255 for B.Pharm Hyd) which in my opinion is not that tough to cross if one has a good plan - BITSAT preparation is not much different from your 11 and 12 board preparation - you just need to be quick and memorize a bit more

  2. hey i need your help...i am going to appear for bitsat 2010 on 31st may and 30th is my eamcet exam...and my completely aiming for bitsat...so can u help me by giving me a strategy on how to prepare for it in last 15 days...and let me make it more clear..i am fair at maths good at chem and not so good at physics...so pls need your suggestions...waiting for ur reply!

    265 was the cutoff for BITS Hyd M.Sc. Bio last year.... Hope that the cutoffs will decrease

  11. Yup Last iteration. B.Pharmacy good if you are planning for higher studies/research. As for placement the whole scenario of B.Pharm is bad throughout India

  16. Hi, I scored 380 in BITSAT 2010. What are the chances of getting a good branch in BITS Pilani. whether Pilani campus is best or I can have goa & hyd.

    1)can u pls tell me whether ques cam frm inorganic chem????like colours of compounds ????
    if no then frm whch inorganic chapters did ques came in chem....bcz i am nt well in inorganic chem?????

    2)also in phy wer ques more frm mechanics part or frm electrstats ,electricity or some semiconductors???????

    3)in maths wer ques comin on series and binomials and inverse trigonometry????bcz i m nt gud in dat.....
    i m gud at conics,3d vectors and calculus......

    can you please tell the level of the toughness of the paper.what was the order?how many questions ?have you attempted those 12! have you glanced thru the paper before selecting the options!
    i m wondering about all of the above.

  25. my son score in BITSAT 2010 is 308. Any chance of getting admission in BITS Pilani. What Branch can we expect at Goa Campus at this score?

  26. Hello Sir,
    Your son might get Civil/Chemical in Pilani but that is only according to the previous year cutoffs. Nothing can be said with 100% sureity. In Goa your son should be getting some of the engineering and most of the dual degrees.
