Hi Ashima,
ReplyDeleteI do understand that these are testing times...but you need to lift yourself up for one last fight. Since you have performed decently in JEE it is only your strategy of attempting the paper that is failing you to cross that extra barrier. Wen you are good with the theory part of a topic there is no need for you to study it again and again...Instead concentrate on other topics which you are not good with.
Take your JEE and AIEEE papers and analyse which areas you have performed badly or which type of questions you have lost due to silly mistakes. Then based on this analysis try to concentrate more on such topic. Also start studying English and Logical Reasoning from 5 of May. Since you seem to lose out in Exams take more BITSAT tests - Around 15 which would be 1 test per day starting from 5 of May
When you plan properly and execute it perfectly then there is nothing stopping you. All the best for your exam.

does dat mean the complexity of questions is less than that of aieee and jee?
also more people are able to score more than 50% of the total marks...since in aieee and iit,the number is less so wat does it points to?

You can't rely on a book for English and Logical Reasoning. Anyways, for English, you can refer to any basic English grammar book like Wren and Martin.

ReplyDeleteHere in Karnataka, professional colleges have one year common for all courses. So suppose I take CSE or even MEchanical, I need to learn the same thinng - They have the common syllabus. Only in the 2nd year, you go on the syllabus for the course you have taken.
How is it at bits?

ReplyDeleteArvi was saying about the same. In BITS, first two years you have almost same courses. Only in 3rd year, you have specialization. But, in addition, in your second year you have chance to take some optional courses( called as electives) also.

ReplyDeleteNo sensible person will think about solving each and every problem in any of these books. Prefer the book which you are comfortable with. By comfortable I mean the book in which you have studied till now for other entrance examination. The focus should be on understanding concepts, completing syllabus and memorizing basic problems.
No Physics entrance examination is complete without mechanics. As I said before you cannot expect to study half the syllabus and get good score in BITSAT. You must try to complete your syllabus

ReplyDeleteThis is how your friends and relatives who have no expertise in the field of BITSAT or predicting cutoffs try to rub their half cooked opinions on you. The cutoffs for BITS Mechanical never crossed 340... the cuoff for Pilani campus dual degrees was around 280.So stop thinking about the cutoffs and work to score 350 plus.
You also need to practise... reading is the first step.... practise is next. Take your Mock tests seriously. They will be the ultimate deciding factor.
Sir, how many mock tests are required to get full fledged practice. my exam is on 28th may. If i start doing mock tests @2 per day from 20th may completing the portion by 20th will that be sufficient to score 350plus?
ReplyDeleteNo no no no no.... Don't take more than one test per day.... You want to spend 6 hours a day taking tests... then when will you analyze your performance? How will you work on your weak topics? How will you study the odd topics?

Sir, i could not get the full meaning of your reply sir! Sir to answer 41-43 questions in maths and 36-38 in physics doing 1 mock test per day and reading basic concepts and formulas would not be sufficient?

ReplyDeleteYou cannot solve 1000's of problems in 10 days. The point is if you have prepared well for other exams previously, and if you complete your syllabus wit good confidence ten you can surely solve that many questions.
But taking 2 tests per day is just a waste of time. It will not give you enough time to concentrate on your weak areas and rectify your mistakes.
Sir, i got 150 in JEE and 220 in AIEEE,130 in ISAT as i screwed them both i want to get in bits-pilani, which some say is equivalent to iit. So i think i am out of confidence and with a strong intention of cracking BITSAT. i got low marks in chem in both exams and 35 in both of them. So can i assume that i will be able to do it if the topics are by may 18th when my exam is on may 28th

ReplyDeleteIf you take your mock tests seriously you will be able to overcome many of your shortcomings. Most of the theory will be clear when you apply it. Also try memorizing the memory based questions as and when you come across them.
Being excellent with Mechanics and ElectroMagnetism helps a lot as there are lot of tricky/ not so lengthy ones. As for Maths, Chemistry and English and Logical Reasnoning it is the same.

ReplyDeleteSir i attempted the mock test 2 given on this site and i got 210 marks. I found that phy and chem were were aieee level but the maths section was too difficult. I hardly got anything in maths section. Is the maths section in bits this difficult compared too other sections??? How can i score more in maths sir??

ReplyDeleteYou have sufficient time to revise most of the topics. As my friend Santosh had said before "It is good to know something of everything rather than everything of something especially for BITSAT. Just revise these chapters and try to work only on basic problems. Leave the tougher ones for the Mock tests.
As for revision...it depends on how you are able to manage your time.
For Speed you must and should follow the maximum of 1 minute per question rule during your Mock tests. Take your preparation seriously from now on and write the Mock tests as if it is the final BITSAT. Then analyze your weak areas....why you are losing on easy questions etc.... and try to attempt as many questions as possible
You must and should be attempting 135+ questions to score 330+ - so work on that
