Some of the easy tips to score quickly in Mathematics especially questions related to Properties of Triangles. Would easily save a lot of time in your exam and score better over all.
These tips work only when you perfect them :)
In every triangle, the questions will mainly be related to one of the following:
1) Area of a triangle : ½ * b * h - ½ * base * height
2) Perimeter of a triangle : a + b + c ; a,b,c are sides of a triangle.
3) Circumscribed Circle - CircumCircle of a triangle - Circumcenter of a triangle
4) Inscribed Circle - InCircle of a triangle - Incenter of a triangle
5) Geometric Center of the triangle.- Centroid
6) Excircle - And the Excenters of a triangle
7) OrthoCenter of a triangle
What we will do is memorize all these values for the three common triangles i.e. Equilateral, Isosceles and Right Angled Triangle.
Equilateral Triangle:
The good thing about an equilateral triangle is the problems related to it are very easy to solve. We will always assume that length of each side of an equilateral triangle is 1, which makes things very easy.
Area of an equilateral triangle :√3/4a2 - Since a=1 in our case it is √3/4 which is 0.433 sq.units
Radius of CircumCircle : a/√3 -> a=1 implies it is 1/√3 that is r = 0.577
Radius of Incircle : a/2√3 -> a=1 implies 1/2√3 that is 0.288
Incircle Radius = 1/2 of CircumCricle Radius
Distance from Centroid to any Side is the same as the radius of Circum Circle.
Altitude of Equilateral Triangle = a√3/2 -> a=1 implies √3/2 that is 0.866
Median Length =

So that would be √3/2a (here a=b=c) - same as Altitude
Altitude is also the median and bisector in an equilateral triangle so the same lenghth as above.
We will look into properties of Isosceles and Right angeled triangle in the next post.

hello this is anju here..what i want to say is ki i have already attempted 2 of ur bitstat sample papers but after submitting i have never received my score..i mean could u plz look into this b'coz it is very important for us to know where we actually stand!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me how many questions came from the following topics? (for those who already took BITSAT '10)
ReplyDelete1. Differentail Eq
2. Integration
3. Coordinate Geometry
4. Vectors
5. Trigonometry and Inv Trig
6. Matrices and Determinants
7. Complex Numbers
Also I'd like to know how the chem paper was, whether it laid more stress on Physical or Organic.
Has anyone solved the previous year question papers given in Arihant? ( I dont know how those guys got the previous years QP, but still I'm asking.) How do you compare the difficulty level of BITSAT '10 with those papers?
And is it easy to answer 35+ questions in Phy confidently?
Hi Nithin,
ReplyDeleteBITSAT is generated from a random pool of huge question bank. So If a guy says that he got 10 questions from Integration, there is a possibility that you get zero questions from Integration. So please do not rely on the weightage of each topic
Chem - whether Physical,Inorganic or Organic will always be more related to theory and memory based questions
Arrihant does not have previous year papers. It is just a tactic to sell their CD
Hi Anju,
ReplyDeleteTake the test at same place...just change your browser
Ok. Thanks. But what about the difficulty level of questions given in Arihant? Can anyone comment on it?
ReplyDeletehii can u please provide solutions to the tests posted by u!! coz i have doubts in many questions & cannot find the solutions anywhere on ur site.
ReplyDeletethanks
Hi Destroer,
ReplyDeleteSorry, we cannot provide either the key or solutions for now. We are severally short on resources and it takes considerable time to come out with such a custom platform. We are working hard and all our efforts are in vain. We hope to have the setup by next year
i have got 223 marks in bitsat... are thr any chances of gettin any seat?
ReplyDeletei have got 223 marks in bitsat is thr any chance to get a seat?
